  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped nuts or paprika for coating

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar, chopped chives, chopped dill, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper until smooth.
  • Chill the cheese mixture in the refrigerator for about 15-30 minutes to firm it up.
  • Shape the chilled cheese mixture into a round ball with your hands.
  • Using a small knife, carve ridges into the cheese ball to resemble a pumpkin.
  • Insert a celery stalk or a chive at the top for the pumpkin's stem.
  • If desired, roll the cheese ball in chopped nuts or sprinkle paprika on it for added color.
  • Chill the shaped cheese ball in the fridge until ready to serve.

Serving

  • Take the cheese ball out of the refrigerator shortly before your guests arrive and place it on a decorative platter with crackers or vegetable sticks.
  • Provide small utensils or spreaders for easy serving.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The mixture can be shaped and chilled a day ahead without decorations, adding those right before serving.
