How to Make Meringue Christmas Trees
Prep Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whip Egg Whites: Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until frothy. Gradually add sugar until stiff peaks form (about 5-7 minutes).
Color the Meringue: Add green gel food coloring to the meringue and gently fold it in.
Pipe Meringues: Using a piping bag with a large star tip, pipe dollops on the baking sheet in tree shapes, then sprinkle with decorations.
Bake: Bake in the oven for 45-50 minutes until dry to the touch.
Cooling: Turn off the oven, leave meringues inside slightly ajar for about 1 hour to cool.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Avoid moisture to keep them crisp. Can freeze for up to 1 month.
