Ingredients

For the Puff Pastry

  • 1 package Puff Pastry Store-bought for convenience

For the Frangipane

  • 1 cup Quick-Cooking Oats Ground finely
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Gluten-free flour can be used as a substitute
  • ½ cup Room Temperature Butter Let it sit out ahead of time
  • ½ cup Sugar Adjust based on pear sweetness
  • 1 large Egg Binds ingredients together
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Adds warm flavor

For the Topping

  • 3 medium Pears Thinly sliced, do not peel
  • ¼ cup Honey For glazing, maple syrup is a substitute

Optional Enhancements

  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon For added flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Extract If nuts are permitted

Instructions

How to Make Vanilla and Pear Frangipane Tart

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Thinly slice your pears into ¼ inch strips and set aside.
  • In a food processor, blend the oats and flour until finely ground. Add sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla extract; blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle of about 14x11 inches and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Spread the frangipane evenly across the pastry, leaving a ½ inch border.
  • Layer the sliced pears on top of the frangipane.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and beginning to brown.
  • Combine honey and remaining vanilla extract in a saucepan; brush over the tart after the first bake.
  • Return the tart to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Garnish with cinnamon if desired.
