Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • baking sheet
  • Oven

Ingredients

Dough

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour Substitute with gluten-free flour blend for gluten-free version.
  • 2 tablespoons Yeast Use instant yeast for quicker rise.
  • 2 teaspoons Salt Enhances flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Feeds yeast and adds sweetness.
  • 1.5 cups Warm water Activates yeast.
  • 1 cup Yogurt Used in gluten-free recipe for hydration and binding.

Topping

  • ½ cup Butter Swap for plant-based butter for vegan option.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced for flavor.
  • 1 cup Cheese (Parmesan or mozzarella) Use vegan cheese for dairy-free option.
  • ¼ cup Fresh parsley For garnish.

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • Combine all-purpose flour, yeast, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Gradually add warm water, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth, then let it rise for an hour until doubled.

Assemble the Filling

  • In a separate bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, and cheese. Mix until creamy and generous—this will become the delicious filling for your Christmas Tree Garlic Bread.

Shape the Bread

  • Divide the risen dough into 28 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, flatten gently, fill with the cheesy garlic mixture, and pinch the edges securely to seal in that tasty filling.

Create the Tree Shape

  • Arrange the filled dough balls on a baking sheet in a triangular shape, mimicking a Christmas tree. Make sure they’re close but not touching—this will help them rise together beautifully.

Bake

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the assembled bread with any remaining garlic butter, then bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown on top and puffy. Don’t forget to brush with more garlic butter right before serving!

Serve

  • Serve warm, inviting everyone to share. Pair with marinara sauce for a delightful dip, and sprinkle with fresh parsley and extra cheese to make it extra festive!

Notes

Garnish with additional fresh parsley for a pop of color. Store leftovers properly to maintain freshness.
