Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish lightly.
  • Sauté the sliced onions in a skillet over medium heat with melted butter until they turn golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and fresh thyme to the pan, cooking until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Layer half the potatoes in the greased dish, followed by half of the onion mixture. Repeat this process.
  • Pour the beef broth evenly over the layered ingredients and top generously with cheese.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  • Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving.
