For the Apple Mixture

  • 4 medium Granny Smith apples peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup caramel sauce divided
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon to taste

For the Cake Layer

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 2 large eggs or substitute with applesauce for vegan option

Optional Toppings

  • 1 cup whipped cream for serving
  • 1 cup ice cream vanilla or caramel flavors recommended

  • Peel and slice the apples into even pieces. Combine them in a bowl with cinnamon and half of the caramel sauce, ensuring they're well coated.
  • Pour the apple mixture into the bottom of your greased crockpot. Spread it out evenly to create a cozy base for the cake layer.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and eggs (or applesauce). Stir until just mixed—lumps are okay!
  • Spoon the cake mixture over the apple layer in the crockpot. If it looks uneven, that's perfectly fine!
  • Pour the remaining caramel sauce over the cake layer, letting it drip down into the apple mixture for extra sweetness.
  • Cover and cook on low for about 3-4 hours, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean but with some gooey pieces.
  • Carefully ladle portions into bowls, and don’t forget to add a generous scoop of whipped cream or ice cream for the perfect finish!

Notes

Optional: Add a sprinkle of chopped nuts on top for extra crunch!
