Directions
Grate the cheeses and set aside any small chunks for texture.
In a large pot, bring water, salt, and chicken bouillon to a boil. Cook macaroni until al dente, then drain.
Melt the butter in the same pot over low heat until bubbly and lightly golden.
Gradually whisk in heavy cream until smooth.
Incorporate half of the grated cheese into the cream, followed by cream cheese and seasonings.
Fold the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce, mixing in reserved cheese chunks.
Transfer half the mixture to a baking dish, layer with cheese sauce, and top with remaining macaroni and cheese.
Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for about 30 minutes until bubbly. Broil for 2 minutes for a golden finish.
Notes
This dish can be prepared a day in advance. Just assemble and store in the refrigerator; bake when ready.
